Wikis are a great way to share information and involve other people, whether they be work colleagues, or just people with a common interest in virtual dialogue.
Wikis can vary enormously in quality and authority. They can be hi-jacked by people with their own agendas - so be careful.
Wikis have many useful applications for public libraries but it's a good idea to have a moderator to oversee the content. Our library Wiki:
http://rivitiliser.wetpaint.com/
is used for sharing ideas, general discussion and circulation of procedural information.
